Branson to Launch Corporate 'Green' Think Tank. By Bryan Walsh, Time, December 31, 2009. "The British billionaire Richard Branson, says he has heard the alarm from scientists and environmentalists about climate change, and believes that the world must not waste time shifting away from oil and other fossil fuels... In 2010, he will officially launch the Carbon War Room, a corporate think tank of sorts, designed to incubate and spread the best ways to cut carbon in corporate sectors ranging from aviation to shipping to construction. It's a global-warming remedy by business for business, and given the paralysis in the international effort to curb climate change, it could be the right idea for the right time. 'I think if the government can't deliver, it's up to industries to themselves,' says Branson. 'We have to make it a win-win for all concerned.'"        http://www.carbonwarroom.com/

LFTR
http://thoriumenergy.blogspot.com/  The liquid fluoride thorium reactor is another advanced nuclear power source, even more promising than the pebble bed reactor. The LFTR uses inexpensive thorium as a fuel, transforming it to uranium-233 which fissions, producing heat and electric power at a cost less than that from coal power plants.

http://nucleargreen.blogspot.com/  The Nuclear Green Revolution.  Charles Barton. Contributors: Kirk Sorensen and Ijon Tichy

http://www.facebook.com/EnergyFromThorium   LFTR activity place.

Thorium and uranium are dissolved in molten salt, simplifying fueling and waste removal compared to today's nuclear power plants. Prototype molten salt reactors were developed and tested by the US at Oak Ridge National Laboratories in the 1960s and 1970s. In 2006 the Oak Ridge research papers were scanned and posted on the internet. A collaboration of scientists, engineers, and professional volunteers has begun developing an updated conceptual design for the LFTR.

Hi Jim,  The book has sold out.  I won't bother with another printing, because the data would be out of date.  Rather than rewrite the book with new data everywhere, I am writing A Primer on Renewable Energy.  Cheers, Howard

This book is an excellent basic text covering energy in general with most of the book being dedicated to "Renewable" power.  Dr. Hayden points out that Biomass, Hydropower, Wind Power, and Direct Solar Heat all fall under the general category of "solar energy."  He also addresses the fallacies of extreme energy conservation and extreme energy efficiency.

Dr. Hayden is a Professor Emeritus of Physics from the University of Connecticut and continues to publish a monthly newsletter, The Energy Advocate.

Aim High!: Thorium energy cheaper than from coal solves more than just global warming. (Paperback)

by Dr Robert Hargraves (Author)

Aim High is a proposal to factory-produce 100 MW electric power reactors to achieve an electric power cost cheaper than from coal. By economically undercutting coal power plants we can dissuade India, China, and the other developing nations from burning coal, without carbon taxes, which they would never accept. Less expensive, affordable electric power is also key to helping the developing nations achieve a modest level of prosperity that leads to population stability.

The Aim High book is available at Amazon. The Aim High website contains a Power Point version of the proposal and more information. The Energy From Thorium website contains an extensive blog, forum, and reference library.
